Ce qui va arriver

Nous devons procéder à une maintenance du routeur principal. Ceci implique que nous devrons le mettre hors-ligne. Cependant, avant de faire cette maintenance, nous prévoyons détourner tout le trafic vers notre routeur réseau secondaire, ce qui fera en sorte qu'aucune coupure de service ne devrait se produire: nous pourrons travailler sur le routeur principal pendant que le routeur secondaire reprendra toute la charche.

Pourquoi

Le routeur principal a besoin d'une mise à jour du système d'exploitation, ce qui appliquera en même temps plusieurs corrections de sécurité à différents logiciels.

Comment

• Détournement du trafic réseau pour qu'il passe par le routeur secondaire.
• Tests pour nous assurer que le routeur principal n'obtient plus de trafic réseau et que tout fonctionne bien normalement.
• Mise à jour du routeur principal et reboot.
• Tests du bon fonctionnement du routeur mis à jour.
• Reprise en charge du trafic réseau par le routeur principal.

What will happen

We need to proceed with a maintenance of the main router. This implies that we need to put it offline. However, before doing this maintenance we will re-route all network traffic through our secondary router. This means that we expect this maintenance to incur no down time whatsoever for users: we will be able to work on the main router while the secondary router will handle all of the traffic.

Why

The main router needs an operating system upgrade, which will at the same time apply a handful of security fixes to applications running on it.

How

• Re-route of all the network traffic towards our secondary router.
• Tests to make sure the main router doesn't handle any traffic anymore and that everything is still working normally.
• Upgrade of the main router and reboot.
• Tests to ensure good working state of the upgraded router.
• Return all traffic on the main router.
