Ce qui va arriver

Nous devons remplacer un disque dur sur un serveur pour rétablir la redondance des données en RAID. Pour ce faire, nous devons fermer la machine pour pouvoir changer le disque dur, puis la redémarer.

Pourquoi

Un des deux disque durs contenant les données des machines virtuelles est défectueux et a eu des erreurs de fonctionnement. Les données sont répliquées sur un deuxième disque pour éviter de les perdre. Nous devons changer le disque dur qui a brisé pour pouvoir rétablir la réplication.

Comment

• Fermeture d'athena.koumbit.net, ce qui fermera toutes ses VMs.
• Ouverture de la machine et remplacement physique du disque dur.
• Rebranchement et remise en marche de la machine. Les services reviendront fonctionnels à ce moment.
• Ajout du nouveau disque dur au RAID pour démarrer la réplication.

What will happen

We need to replace one of the hard disks in a server in order to re-establish data redundancy with RAID. For this, we need to shut down the machine in order to physically swapping the disk for a new one, and then start it back up.

Why

One of the hard disks recently showed signs of fatigue and had errors that show that it is now malfunctioning. Data is replicated on a second hard disk so that there is no data loss. We need to replace the defective disk in order to re-establish data redundancy.

How

• Shutdown of athena.koumbit.net. This will shutdown all of the VMs on that machine.
• Opening up the machine and swapping the hard disk for a new one.
• Plug the machine back up and boot it up again. All services should come back online at that point.
• Add the new disk in the RAID array in order to start replication.
